QUICK SCOOP - VC Money still going to Social Networks for Teenagers

Most people in the VC community feel the wave of funding for Social Networking sites has passed, but two sites targeted at the teen market just raised some good sized VC money.  

 

MyYearbook – a social network designed to connect teen users with their friends recently received $13 million in funding by Northwest Venture Partners to build out their membership platform (July 30th)


WePlay – yesterday (8/5) announced an $8.6 million dollar round, partially backed by Derek Jeter, Lebron James and Peyton Manning, to build out a sports social network aimed at connecting kids who play sports
